Adam's Journal

Simday 9 (Age 30)

What is happening to this neighborhood? A burglar broke into my house last night. Duke didn't even wake up—we need to work on that. Anyway, Leonardo had a break-in not long ago. I'm afraid to wonder: Who's next?

Simday 8 (Age 29)

One of the surprising drawbacks about Sunrise Falls is the fact that the neighborhood seems to be overrun with strays. Some of them seem to be dangerous, too, in particular a large wolfish dog that lurks around our properties after dark. Tonight Duke got in a fight with him, and I was nervous, but the old boy actually beat him! Not that I want to encourage my dog to be particularly violent, but it sure was satisfying to see that wolf slink off into the night. Here's hoping he doesn't come back.

Simday 4 (Age 25)

My own house now may be small compared to the estate I grew up in, but it still has plenty of space. I've been thinking about the horses and other animals that my family kept, and I've decided to restart the tradition. Tonight I visited the new shopping district, and at the pet store there, found the perfect companion: Duke, an American foxhound.

Simday 1 (Age 22)

It's a little bit weird being in our own houses now. Everyone's designed his own digs according to his own style. For some reason Angelique gave Charlie a chessboard as a graduation present, so I went over to teach him how to play.

Senior year, second semester

I'm getting ready to leave campus in a few days, and since Vik still has to stick around a semester, we're trying to cram as much time together as we can. It feels like just yesterday that we played our first chess match—although thanks to college, we're both a lot better now than we were back then! Checkmate!

Senior year, first semester

I can't believe it's our senior year already. The campus has gone back to the way it looked when we all first arrived—autumn leaves on the ground and all. It's been more fun than I expected, but I'm looking forward to graduating and making some real money!

Junior year, second semester

Vik's been acting strangely all semester. I've hardly seen him at all, and he won't talk to me. I'm really worried about him!

However, I suppose the upside is that I've had to get to know some of the other guys a little better. Most recently I've spent some time talking to Charlie, and I'm surprised at how fond I've gotten of the guy. I always thought he wasn't serious enough, and although that's kind of true, now I think of him almost as a kid brother.

Junior year, first semester

I finally got a chance to meet the hostess of all the mixers we've been having in the past year. It's strange to meet a woman without a proper introduction from our families, but I guess this is all part of our new little world. Some of the other guys seemed surprised when I told them I thought Erica Hamilton was "my type."

Sophomore year, second semester

There have been reports of intruders entering rooms (Tom found that creepy mascot lurking in his room last year and Nick keeps getting awakened by people coming in to play his bass), so I'm not taking any chances. I have a money tree in my room and I intend to protect my assets!

Sophomore year, first semester

We're already sophomores and we have yet to meet any of the ladies across the street, so Vik and I have come up with a foolproof strategy. I guess people think econ majors are all boring and no fun, so we've taken to having pillowfights right in front of their dorm, to make sure they don't get the wrong idea about us. Brilliant, right?

Freshman year, second semester

I've been adjusting to my accommodations pretty well, all things considered. I've adapted to sharing such cramped quarters with seven other gentlemen by rising early. It seems that the other young men prefer sleeping in, so I relish having the early mornings to myself. As I stroll the long hallway enroute to the bathroom, I feel a little like the lord of the manor.

Freshman year, first semester

My home for the next four years is certainly smaller and shabbier than what I'm accustomed to, but I accepted this challenge fully aware of the sacrifices and, more importantly, of the opportunities. I'm ready to make the most of them.
