Nick's Journal

Simday 9 (Age 30)

I've thought about this for a long time. Tonight's the night...

Simday 2 (Age 23)

Oh geez. I almost burned down my new (first, only) house the first night trying to make mac and cheese.

Senior year, second semester

I hadn't realized how much I'd gotten used to being around people all the time until most of the guys graduated and moved out. On the other hand, it's given Vik and me the chance to hang out more and get to know each other better.

Senior year, first semester (repeat)

She loves me. All is good in the world.

Senior year, first semester

I've gone from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. I don't have anyone to blame but myself, really. I let myself get so distracted by trying to impress June that (ironically) I neglected my schoolwork, and now I have to repeat this term. I'm scared of her finding out—what will she think of me?

Oh yeah, and then on top of all that, a streaker totally ran into the bathroom while I was taking a shower, and then SHE had the nerve to look shocked about it!

Junior year, second semester

Um. So I should probably explain. I met someone. I'd been talking to June on the phone a lot, and finally she agreed to come over to hang out one day (she studies A LOT), and when she finally did it was just so great. We talked and danced and stayed in all day (even though I had a final in the morning), and, well, when we finally said goodnight... let's just say it was the best first date ever.

Junior year, first semester

I can't believe we're past the halfway point of college already. Sometimes I look back and I just count my blessings. And I can really count them now—one for each brother I've made!

Sophomore year, second semester

That pesky mascot keeps setting off the sprinklers in the kitchen. The cafeteria lady says it isn't her job to mop the floors every time some punk kid makes a mess, so I've been on mop duty a lot. Fortunately, Adam and Vik are neatniks so they help me out. For a pair of business types, they're pretty down to earth.

Sophomore year, first semester

Today the girls across the street invited us over for our first official meet-and-greet. Their dorm is even nicer than ours—it has two stories! Everyone was really nice, and it was a good party, but I can't help but feeling anxious as to whether I'm really going to meet my soulmate here...

Freshman year, second semester

I've always had a dream to play the bass, so since I made the Dean's List both semesters this year, I decided it was okay to treat myself.

I didn't realize everyone else would have the exact same idea...

Freshman year, first semester

Our dorm kind of reminds me of the Boys' Home I lived in when I was twelve and thirteen. I know we don't have chores here, but old habits die hard, I guess. Plus, I know no one else around here is going to clean the showers, and with eight guys, it gets gross pretty quickly!
